Lawler Design Studio was founded in 2003 in Winter Park, Florida, and is now based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Over more than two decades, we’ve built our practice around highly collaborative relationships with clients who want something special: people who understand that exceptional spaces require genuine partnership between designer, client, architect, builder, and artisan.

 

Our approach is rooted in interior architecture rather than decoration. Whether new construction or renovation, we focus on the elements that define a space: millwork, custom cabinetry, architectural details, and the careful selection of unique finishes and materials. We work across all styles, from historical projects requiring period-appropriate research to thoroughly modern homes, always ensuring that each project remains true to its own character and narrative.

 

We’re deeply involved in project management, because design doesn’t end with drawings. We maintain close relationships with architects, builders, and our extensive network of artisans and vendors—cultivated over years—who can execute complex millwork, source unusual materials, and create custom elements that don’t exist yet. We’re on site regularly throughout construction, reviewing details, solving problems, and making adjustments to protect the design vision while navigating the realities of building.

 

Our services extend to every element shaping an environment: interior architecture, custom cabinetry and millwork, furniture selection and commissioning, lighting, finishes, art, and accessories. We take on both residential and commercial projects, and are drawn to work where design can have real personality and where clients value craft, thoughtfulness, and the process of creating something meaningful.
